Miniature Polarization Maintaining Fiber Optic Connectors

OZ Optics Limited has expanded its product line of polarization maintaining products with the addition of two new varieties of miniature polarization maintaining connectors. These connectors could be used for singlemode and multimode applications as well. They are offered with either standard PC finished or angled polished (APC) finishes for the best return losses.

These miniature connectors feature form factors of 6.4mm and 4.5mm diameters. The 4.5mm diameter relies on a spring clip to keep the fibers in place, and is best suited to semi-permanent installations. The 6.4mm diameter connector features a bayonet mount locking nut, allowing rapid connection and disconnection of fibers. Both connector styles also feature shorter overall lengths compared to standard connectors. The small sizes of these connectors are highly desirable wherever space is at a premium. The mating sleeves for both designs are easily mounted onto flat surfaces, and permit quick installation and removal of patchcords.
